Our group’s theme was Name That Star and we began to gather to march in the annual parade here in the campground. There was much laughter as we emerged from our campers in our costumes.
Connie was Minnie Pearl.
Mel was Marilyn Monroe.
Margie was Minnie Mouse.
Sue was Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz.
Jackie was Charlie Chaplin.
Chris was Johnny Cash and Toby was Carmen Miranda.
Rich and Joanne were the Blues Brothers.
Fitz was Sunny and Janice was Cher.
Pat was Dolly Parton and Mike was Kenny Rogers.
Penny, Bob, Alice and Matt were the Village People.
And I was Michael Jackson. It was Emily’s suggestion for me to grab my crotch in the photo!
Kris, Gloria and Kathie were the judges.
Jack made a sign for Grandma and the parade started at 2:00.
The parade wound its way back to the clubhouse and the judges made their decision.
Third place went to The Paddy Wagon.
The Mountain Folk took second place. I especially loved their outhouse.
And, for the third year in a row, our group took First Place. Congratulations to Connie, especially, for her hard work in getting us all organized and inspired.
I leave you with one last picture and a comment that the grandkids made about Mel, who was Marilyn Monroe. They said, “Grandma, did you see that man that was dressed like a woman? He kept showing his underpants!”
