We spent most of Kathleen and the kid’s last day on the beach at Bahia Honda playing in the water and enjoying the sun. Garrett surprised us all by finding an empty conch shell and then discovered a huge sea biscuit. We went on to find more conchs and we will pack them up and take them out to them next summer in the motorhome.
When we got back to the campground, Hank took the kids over to the fish-cleaning station to see what everyone was bringing in. Matt showed Garrett and Madison how he cleans fish.
Garrett and Madison, just like Jack and Molly, loved Otis. Matt and Alice’s chocolate lab just turned one and is the best behaved pup we have ever seen.
We posed for a last family photo and went up to Key Fisheries for dinner. Kathleen will drive on up to the Fort Lauderdale airport tonight for an early morning flight back to California tomorrow. We were thrilled to discover a manatee in the little harbor by the restaurant. It was a perfect ending to a great visit.
I was in tears as Hank and I headed back across the Seven Mile Bridge. It’s so hard to say good-bye as we see Kath and her family so seldom.
Luckily, Jimmy and Tom were playing some music when we got back to the campground. Rich also did some magic. It helped make us feel better. Everyone wishes they had done this more often. Great show.
