Busy day in the neighborhood. The golf cart had to be decorated. Our group’s theme this year is Advertising Logos and we covered the cart with all the brand names and logos of the costumes we would be wearing. Hank even donated a pair of his Fruit of the Loom briefs! We put a picture of Connie and Fitz on the windshield as they were always the driving force behind our parade efforts and we wanted them to be with us.
Now the fun part. We all put on our costumes and emerged from our coaches to hear the giggles and comments of our neighbors.
We gathered at the clubhouse for a group photo and to see what everyone else would be doing. Bob and Debbie were crowned king and queen of Mardi Gras.
Let the parade begin!!! Lots of spectators gathered to cheer and catch the candy and beads that were tossed their way. Sadly, Judge Gloria was ill and Bob bravely took her place.
We gathered back at the clubhouse to hear the judges’ decision and to cool off. Third prize went to Bob, Sue, John and Janet for their clever use of the pick-up truck as a boxing ring. Our advertising logo group took second place and first prize was awarded to the Coming to America gang.
After much-needed rest, many of us attended the Mardi Gras dinner dance in the clubhouse. Can you guess who these masked revelers are?
After Hank and Al passed out all the desserts, the dancing began. It truly was a great day from beginning to end.
