We arrived at Kathleen and Tony’s home in the high desert and parked our motorhome in front of their pole barn next to their house. Garrett and Madison would come out every morning to spend time with us before Garrett went off to school. It was a fun-filled week and these pictures will show you some of the things we did during this busy week.
Kath and Tony are constructing an outdoor pen for their pet land tortoises, Dee and Bob, who are outgrowing their indoor cage.
Maddie helped Grandpa wash his truck and also washed her plastic alligator. Garrett rode his 2-wheeler.
We all did a 5-K Walk/Run in Hesperia on Saturday and then stayed to watch the parade. Afterwards, we had a huge breakfast at the local airport.
Maddie is taking riding lessons from neighbor, Jill, and doing very well. She even helps with grooming Lady.
Kath and the kids took Grandpa and I to the Barstow Train Museum. Neat museum and we watched many long trains pull by while we were there. Hank was in heaven.
Jan, Jill’s Mom, helps Kath and Tony by babysitting the kids when needed. Garrett and Madison love Jan and Jill and we think that they are wonderful neighbors.
Kath and I volunteered in Garrett’s first grade class with Mrs. Albright. Schools in their area are set up with individual classrooms and the kids can have their lunch outside—very different from Michigan. I was very impressed with the work Garrett is doing. He read us a story every single night!
Kath had a casual dinner/Mary Kay party and it was great fun. She has a wonderful group of friends and many of them are involved in the Girls Gone Active group that she does so many races with.
We were so happy to have this time with Kathleen, Tony, Garrett and Madison and appreciate all they did to make us so comfortable. Tomorrow, we all will head down the mountain for the wedding of our niece, Kelly.
