We drove down to Ventura as that had one of the closest campgrounds to our good friends, John and Nancy. No visit to California is complete without seeing these special friends. We saw evidence of several small fires along the way and were happy to learn they are getting the fires outside of LA under control. We passed through a dense fog bank on the way down and followed the California Aqueduct for some time.
Ventura is a lovely town right on the ocean. Even though it would have been “dry” camping, we wished we had been able to camp right on the beach.
We also got to see John and Nancy’s son and grandson. John and Jack had just been to Boston to see a Red Sox and Patriot’s game and John and Nancy had picked them up at LAX.
We went back to John and Nancy’s, said hello to Lucy, were introduced to the TV program, Cash Cab, visited and had dinner at the Lazy Dog Cafe.
Next morning, we had our motorhome serviced at the local Cummin’s dealer. John and Nancy got to see our coach and we shared a delicious breakfast at one of their favorite spots in town. Hard to say good-bye to them, but we will be together next summer for their 50th High School Reunion—Hank, John and Nancy all graduated from Kimball High School in 1960.
