Busy Monday. Hank and Ross went to Key West with Dave, Larry and David. I had lunch with Sandi and Deanna at Burdines. Herman, the resident egret, watched us eat our yummy hamburgers. That night there was a fish fry in our neighborhood. I attended an Appetizer and Dessert party at Carol’s motorhome. Her beautiful cat watched all of us having fun and the guys grilled hot dogs for everyone. Weather cooperated and it was great to have it lighter longer with Day Light Savings in effect.
Tuesday I went shelling at low tide with Penny and Sue. We all found lots of conch shells. You’re only allowed to harvest the empty shells, but we all were amazed at how many we found. We also were thrilled to spot a starfish—we haven’t seen many this winter. Penny took Pat out later in the week and she found a beautiful queen conch.
Wednesday, after computer class, we took our teacher, Chris, to lunch at Sunset Grille in Marathon to thank her for all her hard work. She’s helped us all become much more comfortable with our computers.
Wednesday night was the St. Patty’s Day Dinner Dance. We wore lots of green and had such fun. Perfect evening except for the wine that spilled on Linda’s skirt at the end of the evening.
Thursday and March Madness begins—we love college basketball! The March Ladies Luncheon was at The Island Fish Company this afternoon. They had us all set up in the shade, but were kind enough to move us all out in the sun since we all were so cold.
And that night we went back to the very same restaurant with Ross and Sue to have dinner with David and Deanna and Dave and Sandi. They are leaving Key Colony to return home to Michigan tomorrow.
Friday brought our annual Line Dancing party. George was a our DJ and Mary presented a check to Pat showing her the amount our group had contributed to a local food bank in her honor. Pat is a wonderful teacher and we all look forward to our twice-weekly classes with her. Barbara was the hit of the party with her solo dance while her husband carried around a funny sign. Hank left early, with my blessing, to watch the the MSU game.
Sunday was the hottest day we have had for the Bean Bag tournament all winter long—we were in the 80’s! Thirty-six people played and the games went on forever—especially when Glenn and Karen played and won the championship over Mel and Brenda. Hank came out of the motorhome periodically to announce the score of the MSU-Maryland game.
I missed the final photograph of the winners as Hank and I had to leave for Diana and Don’s rib dinner in the clubhouse. They and three other couples gave this fun-filled party. We appreciated their kind invitation. Another wonderful week surrounded by many special friends.
