It rained all day Monday, but we had Debbie and Al’s party in the clubhouse to look forward to. They had invited many old friends from Fiesta Key and they taught us lots of new dances. Kris and Art’s grandkids, Courtney and Codey, loved the party.
Tuesday brought sunshine and low winds. Matt and Alice came out fishing with us. We had a great day and caught all kinds of fish out at the Rock Pile. Matt landed a small shovelnose shark and then released it. Blaine and his grandson, Matt, were fishing nearby.
On Wednesday, we bid good-bye to the triplets and Gaynelle and Jim. We will miss the daily hugs and smiles these three youngsters shared with us.
Ross and Sue invited us for snacks and drinks Thursday afternoon. Fun time, but we all were COLD—notice the sweatshirts everyone has on! Ruthanne made Josie, their boxer, stay home.
Friday afternoon brought the annual fashion show. Fun to see many of our beautiful neighbors modeling some very neat outfits.
Again, in sweatshirts, we gathered at Blanchards before dinner and to say good-bye to Artie, Bonnie, Courtney and Codey.
Saturday morning we had breakfast with Steve and Mary at Big Pine Restaurant. They are staying at Fiesta Key this year and glad to be here and trying to remember that it is warmer here than in Michigan.
Saturday some of us went up to Key Colony Inn for dinner to celebrate with the February birthday girls—Alice, Gloria and Penny.
Busy, busy Sunday. We were at the clubhouse by 9:00 a.m. to help set up for Jersey Bob’s annual dinner tonight. We peeled potatoes and zucchini, chopped onions, set out over 125 pounds of fish to thaw and made up gift bags for the 225 people who will attend tonight.
Then home for Sunday Bean Bags. Thirty-eight people played today and I am sorry I did not get a photo of the winners as I was inside the coach making coleslaw for tonight’s event.
Jersey Bob runs a fishing charter out of our campground and also offers free fishing seminars a couple of times a month. I now put my own shrimp on my hook, thanks to him! He always throws a fish dinner towards the end of the season. This year, he charged a small fee and the profits went to the MS Foundation. Over 250 people came and it was a great event. Hats off to Bob and Charlotte for all their hard work and to all the volunteers who helped them.
