We moved over to Franklin Corp of Engineers Park and went into LaBelle to take our boat out of storage and clean it up.
We took the boat out for its maiden voyage of the season. Happily, all went well and we cruised up and down the Caloosahatchee River.
We enjoy Franklin, which is actually an island in the Caloosahatchee River connected by a causeway. There are also dockage/camping spots here for the many boaters who are traveling this waterway.
We visited Art and Jane at their lovely site at nearby Riverbend. Art was busy working on boat projects, both large and small.
Once again, we spent Thanksgiving with Dave and Linda at Orange Harbor. We had a super meal and played cards after dinner. It was good to share the holiday with friends since we are all so far away from our families.
There were some major brush fires across from our island one day and I got some photos of the bald eagle, who nests in the trees by the river, with the smoke in the background.
An alligator carcass was floating in the river and finally had to be removed as the smell was getting to be quite over-powering. What a nasty job that was.
We always enjoy our time here and the people we meet. Very relaxing. Now we head down to the Keys—Hank pulling the boat behind the motorhome and me following in the pick-up truck.
