END OF CALIFORNIA VISIT, MAY 3-5, 2010

Maddie decided to add PINK highlights to my hair for my birthday Monday morning.  Unfortunately, they did not cover all the gray!

We also had a tea party lunch and made brownies for dessert—too bad Garrett was at school and missed all the fun.

Kath and the kids took me to The Roadside Grille for dinner (Tony was working) and they all loved it when the wait staff put a coffee filter on my head and a paper toilet seat cover around my neck and then sang Happy Birthday to me.  The kids were a big help eating the ice cream sundae!

I had such a nice visit and only wished we lived closer so we could see them all more often—and also go camping with them!  I know they will create some unforgettable family memories on the road—just like we have.

CALIFORNIA MOTORHOME FUN, MAY 1&2, 2010

After the kids got up and inspected the new motorhome in the pole barn, Kath and Tony invited their friends, Jen and Dave, to bring their brand-new trailer to “Camp DiGiorgio” for the week-end.  Trips were made to both Camping World and Target.  You know I loved making lists and serving as the official advisor of purchases and organizing inside the coaches.  The kids played, we shared meals and the guys even got in a long bike ride.   I stayed all alone in the house Saturday night while Kath, Tony, Garrett and Madison were in the motorhome AND Jen, Dave, Cooper and Bella were in their trailer.  Friends, Poppy and Lee, stopped by for a visit Saturday night and Karen, Dorothy and Ryan came to see what all the excitement was about on Sunday.  Such fun.

MORE CALIFORNIA FUN, APRIL 30, 2010

Friday was a very busy day for all of us.  Maddie spent the day with a friend and Kathleen and Tony were scheduled to have their new coach orientation and take possession of the new motorhome.  I got to accompany Garrett and his first grade friends on a field trip to Riley’s Apple Orchard In Yucaipa.  Been a long time since I’ve ridden on a school bus with 60 children!  The Riley family introduces the children to all aspects of pioneer living with hands-on experiences.

Don’t know whether it was sexist on his part or not, but Garrett chose not to take part in sweeping out the cabin, doing the dishes or washing laundry and hanging it out to dry.  His class then had a hay ride around the orchard and saw how apple cider is made.

We got to shop in the general store and then had a picnic lunch and play time before boarding the bus to return back to school.  The day could not have been prettier and it was so special to share this with him.
